Amid the flood disaster, Southwest Commander Brig-Gen Aung Kyaw Khaing met recruits for conscription batch 27 on Aug 1st.

  ရေဘေးဒုက္ခ ကြုံနေချိန်မှာပဲ မနေ့ ဩဂုတ်လ ၁ ရက်နေ့မှာ အနောက်တောင်တိုင်း စစ်ဌာနချုပ် တိုင်းမှူးက စစ်မှုထမ်း အမှတ်စဉ် (၂၇) သင်တန်းသားတွေကို ပုသိမ်မှာ တွေ့ဆုံခဲ့ပါတယ်။

ဧရာဝတီတိုင်းအတွင်း ပြည်သူ့စစ်မှုထမ်းသင်တန်း အမှတ်စဉ် (၂၇) သို့ တက်ရောက်ကြမည့်သူတွေကို တိုင်းမှူး ဗိုလ်မှူးချုပ် အောင်ကျော်ခိုင်က ဩဂုတ်လ ၁ ရက်နေ့မှာ တွေ့ဆုံခဲ့တာပါ။

The recruitment comes as severe floods hit Laymyethna and Thabaung, submerging over 5,000 homes.

 လေးမျက်နှာမြို့နယ်မှာ တာကျိုးပေါက်ပြီး အိမ်ထောင်စု နှစ်ထောင် ကျော် ရေမြုပ်နေချိန်မှာပဲ အာဏာသိမ်းစစ်အုပ်စုဘက်က စစ်မှုထမ်း အမှတ်စဉ် (၂၇) အတွက် ဆက်လက် စုဆောင်းနေတာ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

In his 100-day speech, junta chief Min Aung Hlaing confirmed conscription will continue during his term.စစ်အာဏာသိမ်းခေါင်းဆောင် မင်းအောင်လှိုင်က သူ၏ ရက်တစ်ရာပြည့် မိန့်ခွန်းမှာ သူ သမ္မတအဖြစ် ရှိနေသမျှ ကာလပတ်လုံး စစ်မှုထမ်းဥပဒေကို ဆက်လက် ကျင့်သုံးမယ်လို့ အတည်ပြုထားပါတယ်။

On July 30th, major embankment breaches in Laymyethna triggered severe floods across Ayeyarwady.

ပြီးခဲ့တဲ့ဇူလိုင်လ ၃၀ ရက် ညပိုင်းက လေးမျက်နှာမြို့နယ် မြစ်ကျိုးတာကျိုးပေါက်ခဲ့လို့ ဧရာဝတီတိုင်းအတွင်း ရေကြီးရေလွှမ်းမိုးမှုတွေ ဖြစ်ပွားခဲ့တာပါ။

Delayed warnings left villagers with only two hours to evacuate, submerging over  2,000 homes and displacing  10,000 residents.

သတိပေးချက် နောက်ကျခဲ့တာကြောင့် ဒေသခံတွေ ပြင်ဆင်ချိန် ၂ နာရီသာ ရရှိခဲ့ပြီး အိမ်ခြေစု၂,၀၀၀ ကျော်ရေမြုပ်ကာ ဒေသခံ တစ်သောင်းကျော် ရေဘေးသင့်နေရပါတယ်။

A flood relief leader stated: "The river surged in so rapidly over 2,000 households still need urgent assistance."

ရေဘေးကူညီရေး ဦးဆောင်သူတစ်ဦးက “မြစ်ရေက ရုတ်တရက် တရှိန်ထိုးဝင်တာဆိုတော့ ခဏလေးနဲ့ တစ်မြို့လုံး ရေကြီးသွားတာ။ အိမ်ထောင်စု ၂,၀၀၀ ကျော်နဲ့ ပြည်သူ ၁၀,၀၀၀ ကျော် ရေဘေးသင့်နေပြီး အကူအညီတွေ လိုနေတုန်းပါပဲ” လို့ ပြောပါတယ်။

Local residents stated that forced conscription drove young men away, leaving no workforce to repair embankments.

Conscription Batch 27 comes as Ayeyarwady Region suffers severe flooding, with breached embankments submerging 10,000 acres of farmland under 4 to 6 feet of water.

Forced conscription has driven most young men to flee, leaving rural villages without the workforce needed for disaster response and emergency repairs.

စစ်အုပ်စုရဲ့ အတင်းအဓမ္မ စစ်မှုထမ်း ပေါ်တာဆွဲမှု တွေ ကြောင့် ကျေးရွာတွေထဲကလူငယ်အမျိုးသား အများစုဟာ ဘေးလွတ်ရာကို ထွက်ပြေးတိမ်းရှောင်နေကြရတဲ့အတွက် သဘာဝဘေး ရင်ဆိုင်ဖို့နဲ့ ကူညီကယ်ဆယ်ရေး လုပ်ငန်းတွေမှာ အခက်အခဲကြီးစွာ ကြုံတွေ့ခဲ့ကြရတာ လို့ဒေသသခံတွေကပြောပါတယ်။

A local resident from Laymyethna said: "When the breach happened, we needed manpower, but young men had fled out of fear of forced conscription."

The resident added: "With late warnings leaving only two hours to prepare and no young workforce, we couldn't stop the flood from submerging our homes."

Civil rescue groups from Yangon and Mandalay are delivering emergency food and medical aid to flood victims.

လက်ရှိမှာတော့ ရန်ကုန်၊ မန္တလေး၊ ဟင်္သာတနဲ့ ကျုံပျော်တို့က လူမှုကူညီရေး အသင်းတွေက ရေဘေးသင့် ပြည်သူတွေအတွက် ဆေးဝါးနဲ့ စက်သုံးဆီ၊ ရိက္ခာတွေကို အရေးပေါ် လာရောက် ကူညီပေးနေကြပါတယ်။

However, rescue operations remain severely limited as military checkpoints restrict access to the conflict-affected region.
